Whether the ball hit him or not, he interfered with Erstad trying to catch the ball, ... I don't think they can see that from the dugout. In fact, I think the only people who can see it are us standing on the line and the first baseman trying to catch the ball. So when I told (Joe Torre) what happened, he was upset, naturally, because it took them out of the inning, but he didn't argue the rule. Joe West
