I learned so much of life facing the possibility of it terminating for me. I no longer save moments, ... There may be no tomorrow. When I am at a party, I have fun right then and there. I don't reflect on the fun I might have had the next morning. Like many artists, I still have a self-destructive side. I think it goes with the territory. Getting things out by writing does help. However, if that side did not exist, I doubt I would have visited the sites of landmines. I would have been thinking more of my survival. Those trips were very dangerous. Nanci Griffith
